With a profound legacy in medicine, born to gynecologist parents in Fuzhou, China, Dr. Xin Wei's fascination with healing began early in life. His journey in medicine started after a transformative period of self-education and hands-on experience in an automobile parts factory, leading him to pursue dentistry at Shanghai Second Medical University.
Dr. Wei's dedication to helping children with physical disabilities, particularly those with cleft lip and palate, steered him towards specialized training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at his alma mater. He further honed his surgical skills at Fujian Provincial Hospital before embarking on a quest to prevent congenital malformations at the root level. This quest led him to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he delved into the intricacies of cell biology and anatomy and earned his PhD.
